"Come, gather around! Her Luminance sits highest in the sky this hour, gaze at Her Glory and bask in Her Radiance."
Despite the time, this strange man glowing softly in the moonlight has brought in a rather large crowd. His eyes reflect the night sky, and his crown shimmers like the Irminsul. From the tips of his hands, to the palm and wrist, they bore the same pattern; intricately carved, this young leader is inspiring and gives little of his history - with only a desire to encourage moving forward, to encourage stepping into the moonlight. The Frostmoon Scions are regarded as more traditional in contrast to the other denizens of Nod-Krai; while technological innovations have taken hold of this small, isolated land, there are the few who still stay true to their roots, their connection to the world around them.
The Moonchildren lovingly take Her word as truth, wishing to spread Her teachings to the rest of the world. For how the world is reached, that would be through the prince himself.▇▇▇▇ was born to a priestess and a Lightkeeper, born when the sun sat highest in the sky - an irony, considering her heritage. Though, this was considered no ill omen. In fact, the priestesses saw it as an answer to their plights.
This child born into their home would bring them closer to Her Luminance, as the sun's light does so proudly reflect on the moon. Any attempts to mold the child into an ideal prophet would fall short, however, for little ▇▇▇▇ was determined to take fate into her own hands. The Wild Hunt seeks any opportunity it can to seize the light the Moonchildren possess - even with the help of the Lightkeepers, weakened they may be now, they still struggle to keep these forces at bay. She was just a child at the time; curiosity was her fuel, her fire. Despite her elders warnings, she wandered into the darkness of Hiisi's forests, and met a cruel and painful end by The Wild Hunt's hand.
That child was left in the dark, her kin looking for where she'd wandered off. They searched, all day, but were forced to retreat home come nightfall. Even with Her Light, the Wild Hunt was unpredictable in the darkness - and they were unafraid.Come nightfall, however - if you're to believe the recounting of this tale, the moon shed a single tear to grieve this fallen child. She woke, in the dead of night, stars in her eyes and a chill down her spine. The distant thrum and trum of hooves echoed softly in her ears.. And she knew, then, where they hide.A blessing she had been given - the child, attuned to Her Luminance, could better guide Her people to safety. Though the distant sound of hooves haunts his every waking moment, Byggvir, as he goes by now, took up the mantle bestowed upon him to seek out an end to his people's torment. Though he couldn't stop the Wild Hunt, he could warn his people of their arrival - and better yet, he could guide them precariously through the forests they prowled within.
It did not take long, however, to realize, even despite his gift, the numbers of his people were still dwindling. The priestesses were getting old, and there were less people to worship Her Luminance. It was here that he had taken it upon himself to be the Guiding Moonlight to return his people to greatness. He departed for the first time many years back, and has since recruited new kindred spirits to restore life to his little village.Truth be told, despite his importance, there is an unspoken loneliness about Byggvir that is rarely regarded. Carefully poised and eloquently crafted, he is a talented speaker and is capable of captivating masses - and yet.. after his sermons are done, and after he's guided his chosen few back to his homeland.. he's left alone again.
Despite what the priestesses may tell you, Her Luminance is not a frequent speaker. At least, not to Byggvir. Despite his efforts and triumphs, he himself still remains in the moon's shadow; the sun, eclipsed. He tries so hard to live up to what is expected of him, but the moon moves on, and the sun is so dreadfully bright.. He wonders if he's meant to swallow himself whole. They say your destiny is written in the stars - whether you believe that they're real, they're fake, there is inspiration to be found in the silver weavings in the night sky. To the Moonchildren, the stars are a gift from the Sisters themselves. Carefully decorating the veil of celestial darkness, telling stories old and yet to be told. To talented interpreters, they could tell you every miniscule detail about your life.. The decisions you'll make, the sicknesses you'll endure, even how you'll meet your end.
Yet, what is fate to a child with desire? She was always looking up to the heavens in her youth. Even after the stars fell into her eyes, she kept her gaze skyward, to the moon, to the clouds, to the ancient tapestries of time. It didn't matter the cost - she would ensure her constellation would shine the brightest. No matter the cost. When the Moon wept for the fallen child, the gift of Wild Sight was not the only item bestowed. Though no brooch would bare it, the child inherited the gift of the Frostmoon. For a Moonchild, it is rare for your antlers to grow much longer than your finger. The larger your crown, the grander your blessing. Even priestesses do not adorn such large antlers - Byggvir had grown into his in time, of course, but the Frostmoon's blessing did not only crown your brow. With the stars at his whim, he had become what he desired - embodying the Stag of the Moon.
